Upside-down Sweet or Savory Pastry

 Savory Ingredients:

  • 1 medium yellow onion, cut into rounds
  • olive oil
  • maple syrup
  • balsamic vinegar
  • thyme
  • salt & pepper
  • frozen puff pastry sheets (cut evenly into 12 smaller sheets)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
Directions:
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 F
  2. line large baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. with a brush, lightly brush olive oil onto spots evenly on the paper, drizzle balsamic vinegar on each oil spot, place a large round of onion on each spot
  4. season with fresh or dried thyme, salt, and pepper
  5. cover each onion with a small sheet of puff pastry, apply egg wash to the tops of the pastry
  6. cook in oven for 15-20 min
  7. with spatula, flip each over. cool and eat

Optionally, you can use fruit and honey for a sweet version.
