Hoisin Sauce

 Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • pinch of ginger powder
  • pinch of turmeric for color
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seed oil
  • 2-3 Tbs Gochujang
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper

Directions
  • Simply mix all ingredients by hand.
  • At first it does not appear like it will mix, but keep at it just a bit longer and you have Hoisin Sauce. Letting it rest does not appear to improve the flavor any.

Substitutions:
Lighter for chicken and pork. Darker for beef and game. Sweeter for Dim Sum. The commercial recipe uses Black bean paste. You can sub out peanut butter for tahini as well
