Ingredients:
- Pie crust
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 granny smith (or other) apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
- caramel candy cubes
- cinnamon
Directions:
- Preheat over to 425 F
- Line bottom of pie crust with thinly sliced caramel squares
- Melt butter in a sauce pan
- Stir in flour to form paste
- Add:
- sugar
- water
- Bring to boil
- Reduce temperature and simmer 5 minutes
- Combine:
- apples
- dash of cinnamon
- some brown sugar in a large bowl and coat evenly
- Fill pie crust with apples
- Cover with pie crust lattice/cover
- Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust
- 15 minutes at 425 F
- Reduce temperature to 350 F and bake 35-45 minutes more
